Welcome to Melly Says

Melly Says whaaaat? XYZ? 

Ok so i know it can be a little confusing at first but once you get through to the end of this blog post I’m sure the brain ticker will be like “ohhh I get it!”.

That said, drumroll please…

Hi everyone and welcome to Melly Says. This is my first ever blog site and I’m so excited to be launching it with you. Diving right in (because I’m not one for rambling on) let me first and foremost break down the name of the site for you. 

Anatomy of the site name MellySays.xyz

Melly is a nickname which is short for my real name, Melissa. That seems simple enough. 

Now why was it joined with the word “Says”? So, I like compiling lists of things and these usually surround interests which other people can often benefit from…if the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) was a person. This ranged from guesthouses, hotels, inns, beach houses, event venues, third party airline ticketing sites, things to do in countries I’ve visited, music marketing bloggers, free startup resources etc… you get the picture. Because of this nifty little hobby my friends would often ask me for example “Melly what’s a good guest house to stay at in Tobago? My sister is coming down in April for Jazz.” Which then translates to “Melly says The Views guesthouse on the Crown Point strip is really good and she’s a bit OCD so if she says it’s clean and tidy you can definitely trust that. She always finds the best places at affordable prices”. See what happened there? They ask, I share, they relay the recommendation hence “Melly Says”. 

As for the “.xyz” portion, I didn’t want to use a .com extension as I feel that .xyz represents the site accurately. As mentioned in the listing of examples earlier you’d recognize that my interest areas are many – music, entrepreneurship, tourism, events and a host of other areas not mentioned so I thought that .xyz was the most appropriate indicating that Melly can speak to a range of different things, and not be pigeon-holed into any one thing (after all it is a personal blog).

Sooo what’s the site about?

This blog can be referred to as a diary into my life and as the name suggests, my thoughts and opinions on what matters to me. That ranges from food, restaurants, hotels, travel, arts and entertainment, and a bunch of other things. 

In a world where we now have to question everything online – what’s real and what’s not, I decided that this blog will go back to the advent of the internet and early vlog styles. The time when anyone can pick up a phone or a laptop or a computer and just write or a computer with a webcam and just shoot, record and post. No over rehearsed curation, editing or filters. 

Besides the fact that I don’t have editing skills nor the time or patience to learn it I just really want to curate the point, shoot and post experience, authentically. You may see me wear makeup once in a while which I promise will be a shock to your system but not a fan of it so more often than not i’ll be bare faced letting my perfectly imperfect flag fly high. 

As for the content, I keep it real so you can count on balanced reviews and perspectives, respectfully. 

So let’s have a little fun. Let’s laugh together, cry together, WTH together.

One more thing!

The inner nerd also likes creating digital content templates like business kits for marketing and creative industries; planners, course workbooks and other things through Canva and Google suite. I’ll make some of these FREE soon to give you a taste and others will be available for sale… all coming soon.
